Ugh, bestseller lists. Who understands ‘em?! They’re shrouded in mystery and lend a book bragging rights but sometimes seem to have little relationship with actual book sales…slash, reality. We should probably all worry about them less. But!

Below, I’m sharing exactly how many copies I sold the weeks that different titles of mine appeared on various bestseller lists. I’ve also compiled some numbers and anecdotes about (anonymous) author friends’ bestsellers, actual data points from brave fellow authors, and context and insight from publishing professionals.
