I've discussed the whole gifts for editorial team, agent, etc. thing with many friends, and we discovered a funny thing: it seems like a lot of women send gifts and such, whereas my male author friends were like, You do what now? LOL

I feel like it's lawless times now re: etiquette though little touches are always welcome. I know of one author who sends her editor giant bags of M&Ms.

I don't think it's weird that you sent gifts, Alma. It's such a lovely way to let the team working on your book know that you recognize, appreciate, and celebrate their efforts and your shared goal of success for your book.

ooh I would love to read FIEND! and thank you for this etiquette info--I think my agent did a good job of talking me through a bunch of this stuff related to the publishing team before my most recent book, but the tips re taking your conversation partner out for a drink etc are especially good!
